Miyamoto Expected “Significant Resistance Internally” To Fox In The Mario Galaxy Movie

“I wanted to see what it would be like”.

Shigeru Miyamoto and Illumination’s Chris Meledandri are out promoting the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and in an interview with Forbes the Star Fox creator has discussed how Fox McCloud ended up in the movie, despite Nintendo’s general reticence to mixing its IPs.

Miyamoto told Forbes that the pitch to include Fox in the Mario movie came from Illumination. β€œWhen I got the proposal from Chris about including Star Fox, in general, from Nintendo’s perspective, we tend to avoid mixing IPs,” he said, “except for the Pikmin cameo.”
