Metroid Prime 4 has been well received but wasn’t loved by everyone

Nintendo’s last major release of the year will be on December 4 with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Available on both Switch and Switch 2, the FPS has been reviewed by the specialist press ahead of its release.

On Metacritic, the current average score for Metroid Prime 4 is 80% on Switch 2, based on 55 reviews. It’s important to note that the Switch version doesn’t have a score just yet. On OpenCritic, the average score is 82%, based on 32 reviews.

Among the positives are the boss battles, the successful atmosphere, the polished technical aspects on Switch 2, the masterful art direction, and the enjoyable motorcycle controls.

On the downside, there is a real lack of surprises during the adventure, too little freedom, and the desert area and missions are sometimes uninspired. Certain features, such as Samus’ psychic abilities, are also underutilized.
