Overwatch players might feel as if they’re facing off against a Spartan in recent matches. Fans were quick to draw comparisons between Emre, one of five new heroes added to Blizzard’s multiplayer shooter, to Master Chief from Halo, prompting some to clamor for an official crossover.
As observed by GamesRadar, the resemblance between Emre’s abilities and Halo mechanics go beyond the character just being a guy with a gun–his three-round-burst rifle is remarkably like the Battle Rifle from the Xbox-published franchise, and his semi-automatic pistol packs a punch like Halo’s Magnum.
And not only do his frag grenades behave like Halo grenades (even letting players grenade jump), but one of Emre’s perks can make them stick to opponents. You can even argue that his passive health regeneration ability is similar to how a Spartan would regenerate armor. And to top it all off, he interacts with a Cortana-like AI program.
