Marvel Drops a New Thor Trailer for Avengers: Doomsday — And It’s Very Different

Thor's Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Is Here, Showing His Purpose For Battle

After Marvel and Disney showcased the strangest trailer release season imaginable for Avengers: Doomsday, the official Thor trailer has been revealed, and he’s returning ‘one more time.’

Following the poorly received Steve Rogers trailer released on Dec. 23, Marvel has returned online to unveil another character-focused trailer for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. This time, the Avengers are assembled in the back seat alongside Thor, the team’s resident Asgardian, as he pleads with Odin and the All-Fathers for strength. The trailer, which can be seen below, features Thor’s adopted daughter, Love, who is played by Chris Hemsworth’s real-life daughter, and centres on a life worth saving from Doom.

Before their official release on YouTube, the Avengers: Doomsday trailers were slotted to air exclusively in theatres, notably before Avatar: Fire and Ash, and theatre-goers were encouraged to attend multiple times to “watch them all.” The trailers were later leaked widely online, with some users claiming to “save” fans from having to buy tickets just to see trailers. Fans then dissected the footage and posted their findings on Reddit, despite the platform’s strict rules against trailer leaks, explaining what they had seen. One thing is certain: the unusual theatrical rollout used by Marvel has people talking about the new Avengers films, for better or worse.

The earlier Steve Rogers-focused trailer featured him with an infant child, while the new Thor trailer shows him with his adopted daughter. As a result, it appears Marvel may be trying to connect plot threads to give fans a broader picture of Doomsday, one that involves heroic children, at least so far. As Marvel continues to gradually release news and trailers for Doomsday, fans can keep the discussion going on highly active forums. However, they should be aware that these spaces contain numerous spoilers for previous films, as well as speculation about what lies ahead. For those who missed it, the Steve Rogers trailer can be viewed here.
