Marathon: the game seems to have improved

Originally scheduled for release last September, Marathon was ultimately delayed following several controversies. Bungie also wanted to spend more time fine-tuning its PvP title in order to offer a more satisfying experience.

Currently undergoing closed technical testing with several hundred people, Marathon seems to be on the right track. Despite an embargo, participants have shared their immediate impressions via Reddit. Many point to a clear overall improvement.

Work has clearly been done on the factions and the quality of the quests. Others say they had no expectations when they launched Marathon, but were pleasantly surprised and couldn’t « put the controller down ».

However, concerns remain, particularly about the audio quality, which is considered « mediocre », the limited storage space in the inventory, and the so pronounced « bullet magnetism » effect. Some gameplay elements also raise questions. For example, the fact that you have to spend credits to remove a simple accessory from a weapon.

Bungie will need to further optimize these various aspects to make Marathon truly appealing.
