Marathon developer Bungie recently announced that a duos mode test-run is going live later this week, but that’s not all–a new patch has just gone live, implementing a number of balance changes and bug fixes, including one that gives Runners a chance to successfully exfiltrate, even if they’re down.
“Players can now activate exfil beacons while downed,” reads a portion of the patch notes for Marathon’s new 1.0.5 update. “Good luck.”
There are generally three exfil beacons (essentially, extraction points) on each map: two standard exfil beacons, along with an additional exfil beacon that is defended by AI-controlled UESC forces. When an exfil beacon is activated (which takes about 60 seconds once a player has interacted with it), it makes a loud sound and shoots a beam of light into the sky, alerting nearby players that a team is attempting to extract.

This sounds like an exciting development for Marathon! It’s great to see Bungie exploring new modes that enhance the gameplay experience. Looking forward to seeing how the duos mode plays out!
