Those of us interested in checking out Marathon in March can now check out 40 minutes of brand new gameplay footage.
Next month, Bungie will release Marathon, the first game it’s released in nine years, and the first entry in the series since 1996.
With the Halo and Destiny creators putting its sole focus on getting Marathon out the door, there’s a lot riding on this game to be a success following Sony’s live service cancellations that have occurred over the past few years.
As such, we’ve seen a rather huge marketing push for Marathon in recent weeks, particularly with its appearance at the Sony State of Play and its new PlayStation Plus free benefits.
This also includes a new in-depth look at the game, with 40 minutes of new gameplay footage released online.

The footage, uploaded by YouTuber OperatorDrewski and sponsored by Bungie itself, showcases a lot of the different content and features that’ll be arriving in Marathon when the game launches next month.
We get a good glimpse at combat, including the different kinds of matches you can drop into, plus some of the additional features that can be found when not in an active match, like adjusting loadouts and customising your character.
I’ve dropped the gameplay below for you to have a look at ahead of the Marathon Server Slam beta weekend which launches next week.
Marathon’s Upcoming Server Slam Beta Test Gives You A Chance To Check The Game Out
The beta test was announced during the Sony State of Play and will run from 26 February at 6 PM GMT through to 2 March at 6 PM GMT, across all three platforms the game is releasing on.
The beta will be an introduction to Marathon, giving you access to some maps, modes, and weapons that will appear in the final game.
Two zones are included in the beta, titled Perimeter and Dire Marsh, and you’ll also be able to take on contracts for five different factions: Traxus, MIDA, NuCaloric, CyberAcme, and Arachne.
In addition to that, you can also try out five Runner shells that will be available at release, either on your own or as a crew of three players. So, it should be a good chance to get your hands on the game a couple of weeks early.
Marathon will release on 5 March, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
