Disney+ and Lucasfilm have released the trailer for the new Star Wars animated show Maul – Shadow Lord.
After a teaser trailer released yesterday recapped the events of Maul’s life up to the end of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a full trailer released today offers a closer look at his current exploits. Following the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Maul survives Order 66 and an encounter with Ahsoka Tano and sets out to rebuild his criminal syndicate.
He retreats to a world untouched by the Empire, where he encounters a disillusioned young Padawan whom he believes could become his apprentice and finally help him carry out his revenge.

The series will follow a weekly release schedule, with two episodes dropping each week. The final two episodes will debut on May 4, a fitting date for Star Wars fans. Dave Filoni has returned to create the series and serve as a producer alongside Matt Michnovetz.
Executive producers include Filoni, Athena Yvette Portillo, Michnovetz, Brad Rau, Carrie Beck and Josh Rimes. One of the most exciting aspects of the announcement is the return of Sam Witwer, who reprises his iconic role as Maul, a performance made legendary through his voice work in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels.
The full list of voice actors includes
- Sam Witwer as Maul
- Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara
- Oscar nominee Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson
- Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots
- Dennis Haysbert as Master Eeko-Dio-Daki
- Chris Diamantopoulos as Looti Vario
- Charlie Bushnell as Rylee Lawson
- Vanessa Marshall as Rook Kast
- David C. Collins as Spybot

Following the classic animation design of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch, Maul – Shadow Lord is sure to be an exciting new addition to the animated Star Wars world and Star Wars lore in general. Maul – Shadow Lord is set to release its first two episodes on April 26th, 2026.
