Lego’s New Tintin Rocket Set Is Straight Out of the Comics

Many Lego sets have been based on Marvel and DC Comics characters, but for its next release, the company is looking to Belgium for its first Tintin collaboration. Based on the iconic Herge comics featuring the young reporter traveling the world and the cosmos, the new Tintin Moon Rocket kit is priced at $160 and launches on April 1.

Inspired by the 1953 Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon comic book serials, the 1,283-piece model is an accurate recreation of the iconic rocketship. It features the red-and-white checker pattern, a curvy shape symbolic of the Space Race era, and a removable hull section that reveals inner details like the observation room. The included minifigures really tie the set together, with five in total and Snowy, of course.
