Steam has just added a fresh new addition to its library and if you are a fan of The Legend of Zelda who are just looking for a retro pixel art adventure, this may be the game for you.
Developed by Starfall Games and released earlier this week in demo form, Hero of Sunset is an action RPG inspired by the likes of The Legend of Zelda franchise.
Featuring a pixel art style and nods to the retro games of our childhoods, players will be expected to explore, fight, solve puzzles, challenge bosses and most importantly, romance cute girls.
Set to be released fully in Q2 of 2026, there is still some time to go for Hero of Sunset but if you cannot wait that long, its Steam demo is now free to download and play.
“Selphie starts her journey with a single objective: to find her disappeared sister, Orielle,” the official Steam synopsis reads.
“After following her tracks to the town of Stelapar, she finds herself caught up in a terrible disaster: one of the Dawn Crystal, the seal set upon the Twilight Lord by the Hero of Sunset hundreds of years ago, shatters before her eyes.”
Now entangled in a plot she didn’t expect, Selphie is soon tasked with finding the Eclipse Keys if she wishes to prevent an ancient evil from awakening.
Perhaps what may draw you to Hero of Sunset the most is its cast of adorable characters including quick-witted mage Althea, spiritual leader Elysia, skilled swordsman Isolde, charming and mysterious traveler Kaira, and shy half-spirit Amarilys.
These are the girls that you can meet and romance throughout your journey with each offering their very own quest and beautifully illustrated story scenes.
The Hero of Sunset demo features the open-world of Nordalfer which you will explore with Selphie herself.
It is here that you will face dangerous enemies, unravel mysteries, learn skills, solve puzzles and complete a quest with each of the girls to learn more about them and the world.
In the full release of Hero of Sunset, players can expect action combat with dangerous enemies and bosses, six learnable skills, six hand-crafted locations and many collectibles and secrets to uncover.
