Steamās latest free demo offering is for a game that lives on your PC desktop, which Iām sure will be a terrific help for your productivity while at work.
Desktop idlers have seen a bit of a craze lately. Rustyās Retirement kicked things off by giving you a little Stardew Valley-esque farming sim that lives on the bottom of your screen, and other games have since followed the trend.
Other desktop idlers like My Little Life and Spirit City: Lofi Sessions aim to deliver the same experience, helping you focus on your work while also giving you little sparks of dopamine hits in the form of cosy scenery and lo-fi music.
Cozywood Creek is the latest such game, a gentle idle game which lives at the bottom of your PC desktop.
While you work, study, or relax on your PC, a small river flows at the bottom of your screen. Itās always present and doesnāt demand any attention, but itās there nonetheless. Developer Silver Bullet describes it as āa comforting companionā.
However, there are ways for you to develop the stream and transform it using various tools and customisation techniques. Beginning with simple riverbanks, you can gradually shape it into anything from sandy beaches to driftwood shores, complete with mossy stones, bushy forests and leafy undergrowth.

The longer Cozywood Creek runs on your desktop, the more itāll develop into a natural beauty that invites animals to come and visit. Birds will perch on rocks, frogs settle near the water, and other woodland creatures like elk and foxes will make the river their new home. Itās essentially like watching a natural ecosystem grow.
The Cozywood Creek Free Demo Is Available Now
The full game version of Cozywood Creek doesnāt launch until later in 2026, but a free demo has now been made available for you to check out.
This trial version of the game gives you a few options to play around with, just enough for you to understand what the game is like without giving you full unrestricted access. If you end up enjoying it, you can always purchase the full game later down the line.
Of course, Iām not sure if this would be a good thing to have on while working. While Iām sure the peaceful scenery and soft, flowing water may help with your concentration, I donāt know if your boss would feel the same way. So take precautions where possible.
You can download the free demo for Cozywood Creek now from Steam.
