Guinness World Records has just awarded Lara Croft two records. The famous adventurer from the Tomb Raider franchise now holds two distinctions that further cement her place in the video game hall of fame.
Lara Croft has been named the best-selling female video game heroine in history. She also ranks first in terms of the number of magazine covers featuring a video game character. This true icon has appeared on 2,300 covers (as of April 2025).
Scott Amos, director of Crystal Dynamics studio, spoke following the announcement.
“As tremendous fans of Lara Croft, we’ve been so fortunate to join the Tomb Raider community on this journey throughout the years. She’s been aspirational and inspirational for nearly three decades, and it’s an honour to have her legacy recognised by Guinness World Records.”
