In April 2025, Minecraft made its big-screen debut. Despite mixed reviews, the feature film starring Jack Black grossed over $960 million at the global box office. A sequel was therefore, quite logically, greenlit by Warner Bros.
Now, Minecraft 2, set for release in July 2027, has just added a prestigious name to its cast. American actress Kirsten Dunst will play Alex, a playable character in the video game.
Dunst is known for her role as Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, as well as for her performances in Interview with the Vampire, Marie Antoinette, and many other productions.
