The Danish studio has decided to take a short break from Hitman by putting James Bond in the spotlight in 007 First Light. The latter will be released on March 27, 2026, on consoles and PC. After that, Agent 47 will return with a new installment.
During an interview with Variety, Hakan Abrak, president of IO Interactive, reassured fans that the Hitman franchise will not be abandoned after the launch of 007 First Light.
“For now, I think we need to focus on the end of this year and next year, when you’ll have more information about Hitman’s co-op mode, because I think it’s a very good extension of the universe and will introduce some very interesting mechanics and combinations to World of Assassination.
But after that, we’ll talk about the next Hitman, because, of course, there will be a new Hitman.”

It’s exciting to hear that IO Interactive is focusing on a new James Bond game! It’s always interesting to see how studios balance their projects. Looking forward to the return of Hitman after this new adventure!
