A very talented 15-year-old modder has delivered an epic crossover thought impossible with Hytale and Minecraft.
If you’re a gamer, and if you’re reading this ( you most likely are), there’s every chance that you have heard of the goliath that is Minecraft.
Developed by Mojang Studios, when Minecraft arrived on PC in 2012 as an upstart indie project, few could have predicted the phenomenon that it would become, let alone being acquired by Microsoft for a reported whopping $2.5 billion in 2014.
Today, the creative, open-world sandbox joy of Minecraft has been ported to practically every gaming platform across generations, as well as producing spin-offs, a blockbuster Hollywood movie, an interactive series on Netflix, endless merchandise and much more.
Over the years, similar to what many developers have attempted to replace the winning battle royale formula of Fortnite, few have barely come close to replicating the success of Minecraft. Don’t get me wrong, there have been solid attempts, but nothing has ever truly come close.

Teenage Minecraft and Hytale Modder Achieves Wizardry
That being said, one newly released game in particular might not garner the success of Minecraft, but at the very least, it has produced an unexpected crossover, all thanks to a young teenage modder. The new game in question is called Hytale, developed and published by the indie folks at Hypixel Studios.
“Set out on an adventure built for both creation and play,” reads the description of the game. “Hytale blends the freedom of a sandbox with the momentum of an RPG: explore a procedurally generated world full of dungeons, secrets, and a variety of creatures, then shape it block by block.”
Hytale was only released on PC on 13 January 2026 as an early access title. Yet, as brought to our attention by GamesRadar, a 15-year-old modder, who goes by the name iamcxv7 on Twitter, has somehow introduced crossplay between Minecraft and Hytale.
In some images shown on iamcxv7’s Twitter account, players can jump between both worlds, co-existing and even moving building blocks from Minecraft and Hytale, and vice versa. What’s more, it even features cross-game chat. It really is pure wizardry!

How Is This Minecraft and Hytale Crossover Possible?
“It’s all just Packet Trickery. You could say I am running a Minecraft server in the Hytale JVM, which uses the Coordinate System of the Hytale World (as it’s the same), as well as takes a Snapshot of the Hytale World and reconstructs it, and then sends it to the Client via Packets,” iamcxv7 explained.
I think we can all agree that when iamcxv7 is old enough, someone at Mojang Studios or Hypixel Studios needs to give this talented young man a job.
Hytale is out on PC right now, while Minecraft is available on just about every platform imaginable.
