Fall Guys Crown Jam has arrived in Fortnite, marking the first time Mediatonic’s multiplayer party game has gotten a proper mode in Epic’s metaverse–rather than user-created mini-games. Crown Jam is essentially a 3v3 game of rugby, except you score by throwing or dunking the ball through an oversized basketball hoop, with two teams of beans battling it out. And as is usually the case with an event mode like this, there are lots of free things to earn as you play.
Crown Jam is not a permanent mode, however. This new Fall Guys integration is only slated to last for two weeks, ending on February 9. It’s always possible, however, that it will stick around or return later–or that it’s just the first of a number of Fall Guys mini-games that will be popping up in Fortnite this year.
But that’s just speculation about the future. Let’s shift the focus back to the present–specifically, the rewards you can earn by playing.
There are three main rewards that can be earned in Fortnite: a bean back bling, a basketball back bling, and a jam track. Beyond that, there are also two sprays and a loading screen of the Fall Guys Crown Jam key art, and over in the actual Fall Guys game, you can get a new bean outfit for free from the item shop.
The bean back bling is relatively easy to get because it only requires playing five Crown Jam matches. But most of the free rewards will take some work, because they’re tied to playing the ranked version of Fall Guys Crown Jam. That is to say that you’ll actually need to play well and rank up to earn most of these things. Fortunately, you don’t seem to lose any progress by losing matches, but you’ll only gain progress when your team wins.
The rewards are earned for earning a win at each rank, starting at Gold. When you first start playing ranked Crown Jam, you’ll be at Bronze, so you’ll need to win some games before you can start unlocking items beyond the back bling.
Fortnite Crown Jam tips

Since you’ll need to play well in order to earn all the free stuff from Fall Guys Crown Jam, we’ve got some tips that will help you understand the game a little better so you don’t have to figure it out on your own.
1. The basics are very simple and straightforward
The fundamentals of Fall Guys Crown Jam are easy to grasp. The team with the ball wants to get down the field to their hoop and score (square to pass the ball to a teammate, R2 to shoot the ball, and circle to dunk it when you’re close enough). The team without the ball wants to tackle the ball carrier (R2) to prevent a score and knock the ball loose for a steal. There are some additional gimmicks that can make it seem more complicated, but it’s really not.
2. How to score
There are two main strategies for getting the ball down the field. One is to spread your team out, so that when the opponents go after the ball carrier, they’ll have an open teammate to pass the ball to. This is the best method if you aren’t using voice chat, because it doesn’t require any coordination. For example, if your teammate is running down the right side of the field with the ball and the defenders are blocking the path, you can move to the left side of the field, away from the other players, potentially giving you room to shoot or make a run at the goal if your teammate passes it to you. Likewise, if you’re the ball carrier, you’ll need to watch for your teammates to try that so you can pass it to them when they’re open.
The other way to score is better for teams who are able to coordinate on voice chat: When one teammate has the ball, the other two will run in front of the ball carrier and tackle any defenders who try to get in the way. This strategy works extremely well under most circumstances, but it can be completely negated by power-ups. Speaking of which…

3. Hype abilities
You’ll have three game-changing Hype Abilities, which you can trigger periodically with the Triangle button, to choose from at the start of each match. The Big Bean temporarily makes your bean twice as large and impossible to tackle. Bounce Pad lets you spawn, well, a bounce pad that will launch you across the field–though the pad will be destroyed if an opposing player jumps on it. And Confetti Crash lets you tackle one opposing player from anywhere on the field.
All of these can completely change the momentum of a Crown Jam match if you time them right, so it’s usually best not to activate your hype ability as soon as the cooldown is up. Save it for when it will count.
4. Don’t hold the shot button too long
When your bean has the ball, you can hold down R2 to line up your shot. But if you hold it down too long, the line indicating where the ball is going to go will turn red, and that means the ball is probably not going to go where you want it to. If you want your shots to be accurate, you have to let go of the button before the line turns red.
5. You can tackle people mid-dunk
When the enemy has the ball and seems as though they’re about to score, you should spam that tackle button (R2) if you’re anywhere close to them. A tackle can interrupt a shot or a dunk attempt, even if it seems too late–and since you can’t be called for a personal foul like in basketball, there’s no reason not to just shove the crap out of that enemy bean who’s trying to score. It’ll work more often than you expect it to.
6. If you’re struggling with ranked, come back later
Everybody starts at Bronze rank, which means the game starts off treating everybody as if they’re at the same skill level. But as the event goes on, the most active players will move up and vacate the lower ranks, meaning that you’re likely to encounter less skilled and less experienced players if you start this grind later on. So if you find yourself losing a bunch of games in a row, maybe take a few days off before trying again.
