What is the Final Puzzle and who solved it first?

The Resident Evil Requiem Final Puzzle is a hidden challenge that only appears upon beating the game for the first time. The rather cryptic clue describing how to solve it simply states: “Let the sweet pair hear the voice.”
Once completed, The Final Puzzle rewards you with 20,000 challenge points (CP) used to purchased new weapons and upgrades. It does have a few notable requirements:
- You need to have Marie’s Doll, a key item that comes from the Research Facility below the Courtyard. You’ll have first seen the doll in the cells beneath the guard room where you meet Emily, but you can’t pick it up at that time. To get the doll to appear in the Research Facility, you’ll need to meet several requirements.
- Once obtained, Marie’s Doll can be kept across multiple playthroughs, which is essential because you can’t solve the puzzle on the run when you first get the doll. Leave it in an item box and it will appear there future playthroughs when you’re playing as Grace.
- During Grace’s segment–before you go outside and bring Emily to the Courtyard–you must take Emily with you to the Lead Researcher’s Office to complete a secret puzzle. Marie’s Doll must also be in your inventory.
As for who solved it first, there are several folks who deserve credit:
-
- Our friends at IGN, as far as we can tell, were the first to discover the clues that eventually led to the solution to the secret puzzle. This is actually the conclusion of the whole process, not the initial step. A YouTuber named Gengar Collects
- , saying that they might’ve been the first to solve the puzzle. While the YouTuber had forgotten the exact steps they followed they did, they still shared a few important tidbits:
- They had obtained the doll in the Research Facility below the Courtyard during their first playthrough.
- They messed around with the toilets in the Care Center.
- Since they still had the doll on their next playthrough, they input the secret code while Grace was carrying Emily and the doll was in their inventory.
- There was just one problem: You can inspect and check various dolls in the game, but you can’t place them in your inventory. For quite some time, no one has figured out how to make the right doll appear in that correct spot.
- From there, enthusiastic players created The Final Puzzle subreddit, with the aim of sharing info, debunking theories, and delving deeper into the mystery.
- And, finally, YouTuber Kyro, who mentioned they have a background in datamining, posted a video that divulged the necessary steps to make Marie’s Doll appear in the Research Facility.
How to get Marie’s Doll – The Basement

We’ve organized our Resident Evil Requiem Final Puzzle guide to outline the steps in chronological order. Think of it as though you’re playing the game for the first time, even though you might be aware of what the challenge entails.
The information on how to obtain Marie’s Doll comes from a video posted by YouTuber Kyro. The steps below need to be completed in the Care Center Basement, so do check our walkthrough if you need help navigating the area:
- At a certain point, you need to go through the Inspection area, which is filled with hanging cadavers. It leads you to a bloody pool in the Processing area.
- Upon reaching the pool, do not drain the blood just yet. Instead, you must wait at least 15 minutes. According to Kyro, this ensures that the first “flag”–the trigger that affects where the doll appears, in this case the number of corpses in the pool–is activated.
- Then, once 15 minutes have elapsed, drain the blood pool and hop down. You need to survive the whole ordeal without killing any zombies yourself with your weapons; they all need to fall into the grinder while they’re alive. This means just relying on “kneecap” shots and staggers. This would complete the second flag related to the doll.
How to get Marie’s Doll – The Bathroom

After escaping the Care Center Basement, you have to return to the 1F Bathroom. Inside, you just need to flush a toilet eight times. This is the third flag that’s required to obtain Marie’s Doll in Resident Evil Requiem.
How to get Marie’s Doll – The Research Facility (Blood Lab)

Finally, you can go ahead and continue the campaign. Once the self-destruct sequence has been activated, you should head to the Collection & Testing area. Eventually, the core will explode and several infected zombies will turn into Blister Heads. As you head to the metal steps to the left, you should see Marie’s Doll on the ground, partially submerged in bloody liquids.
This is basically how you acquire the Resident Evil Requiem Marie’s Doll, which was the information initially shared by YouTuber Gengar Collects. Since you can’t return to the Care Center after this point, you just need to place the doll inside an item box. It will still be there in successive playthroughs.
Puzzle Clues: The Severed Hand and Let’s Play

The next sections are related to the Resident Evil Requiem Final Puzzle clues and the combination itself, which were first discovered by IGN. Here’s a quick summary:
- After escaping the Care Center Basement, you’re going to find a Severed Hand on the floor. Go ahead and pick it up.
- Bring it to an analyzer machine, such as the one in the Blood Lab.
- Once it’s analyzed, a message will pop up: “Let’s Play.”
- There also seems to be a DNA sequence of sorts: GGC – AAG – AUA – ACG – UGU – CAU.
Each codon is related to a nucleotide that forms our genetic building blocks. That said, you won’t need a medical degree for this process at all. That’s because these letters correspond to a particular symbol–i.e. the Sun-Moon-Star puzzle boxes that are required for progression.
Puzzle Clue #1: The letter G

The first clue is actually just to the side of the analyzer machine in the Blood Lab. You should see this etched on the console: G=150000000. This refers to the Earth’s distance from the sun–i.e. 150 million kilometers. That means G = Sun.
Puzzle Clue #2: The letter U

The next clue comes from the Hourglass in the Courtyard VIP Suite–i.e. Victor Gideon’s office. If you rotate it and let the sand fall down, you’ll see this tidbit etched on the other base: U = 380,000. This is the average distance of the moon from the Earth–i.e. 380,000 kilometers. That means U = Moon.
Puzzle Clue #3: The letter C

The last clue comes from a file/document–i.e. Grace Ashcroft Blood Analysis Report–which is found in the Research Lab below the Courtyard. You’ll notice this particular tidbit: C = 4.2 ly. The acronym “ly” stands for “light years.”
It just so happens that Proxima Centauri, the star that’s nearest to the Earth after the sun, is 4.246 light years away. That means C = Star.

After all that preparation, it’s time to finally solve the riddle. Just to recap:
- You need to start another playthrough (on any difficulty) after obtaining Marie’s Doll.
- As Grace, complete the Care Center Basement and grab the Severed Hand, then scan it using an analyzer.
- As Grace, put Marie’s Doll back in your inventory. Then, carry Emily to the Lead Researcher’s Office .
- Using the letter/symbol clues mentioned before, you can input this combination into the Puzzle Box: Sun, Sun, Star, Sun, Moon, Star, Sun, Moon, Sun, Moon, Star, Moon.
- Upon doing the above steps, a notification will appear, telling you that you “let the sweet pair hear the voice.”
