Developer Bungie recently announced a new release window for its upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon. The studio also released its new “ViDoc” called Vision of Marathon, which gives fans a new look at the highly anticipated game from the beloved game developer.
What is the new Marathon PS5 release date window?
Bungie announced that Marathon will now release in March 2026. A specific date was not revealed. However, the developer has confirmed that the game will be $39.99/€39.99/£34.99 depending on the region. According to their post, purchasing the game will give players “full access” to the game. This includes new maps, Runner shells, and events. They also confirmed that there will be Rewards Passes for each Season, and that they will not expire when the event is over. Also, players will be able to purchase prior Passes.
Bungie also says that they are “preserving competitive integrity” by not having any pay-to-win microtransactions. Specifically, they say, “survival will never come down to how much money you spend.” How the developer plans to do that is not detailed, but they do confirm that they will share more details near launch.
Marathon was originally announced during the PlayStation Showcase in 2023. Bungie remained fairly quiet about the project until its gameplay reveal event this year, where they announced its original September 23 release date. However, after receiving community feedback, the developer decided to delay the game.
“Through every comment and real-time conversation on social media and Discord, your voice has been strong and clear,” reads Bungie’s statement. “We’ve taken this to heart, and we know we need more time to craft Marathon into the game that truly reflects your passion.”
“We’re using this time to empower the team to create the intense, high-stakes experience that a title like Marathon is built around,” continued the statement. “This means deepening the relationship between the developers and the game’s most important voices: our players. “
