Things seem to genuinely be looking up for Highguard, as the game has finally managed to shake that dreaded āMostly Negativeā rating on Steam thanks to Wildlight Entertainmentās latest patch.
Is Highguard a good game? Thatās a great question. Itās also, unfortunately, impossible to answer.
When the game dropped on January 26, after getting memed into the ground following its reveal at The 2025 Game Awards, Highguard managed to earn itself a rather nasty Mostly Negative score on Steam, with only 26% of its reviewers rating the game positively.
It didnāt take a genius to figure out that a lot of the reviews on Steam werenāt written in earnest. People just thought it would be funny to make jokes about it being āConcord 2,ā and you can tell as much from all the 0.1 hour playtime negative reviews on the Highguard page.
However, that doesnāt mean that the game doesnāt have issues. Optimisation on PC is the big one, and thatās where most of the genuine negative reviews took issue with the game.
Well,

More importantly, though, it also introduced a new mode: 5v5 raids. Turns out that this was enough for most people, because the reviews for Highguard on Steam are now up to Mixed, with 40% of the reviews being positive.
Hereās what some of the new reviews have to say about the latest patch.
āgame was a wasteland with the 3v3 mode. 5v5 is absolutely a better pace and actually brings purpose to the farming and looting side of the game,ā commented Steam user thyAuctive.
āw devs for not blaming the community and actually listening. def worth at least trying and forming your own opinion.ā
āThe bones of a fun game is there. Just waiting for a massive performance update right now. 5v5 is fun and I saw my performance improve a little bit with the recent patch,ā writes Steam user CĪ»scade.
Honestly, Iāve kind of felt bad for the Highguard devs throughout this entire debacle. They suddenly became the internetās punching bag because⦠I guess people didnāt like that their trailer was overhyped at The Game Awards?
I just hope they can keep introducing updates that slowly bump that score higher, because Iām kind of rooting for them now. At the very least, Wildlight Entertainment seems to be listening to their players (which is more than you can say for most publishers these days).
