Hideo Kojima will voice a character in Zootopia 2 in Japanese

Disney recently released Zootopia 2 in theaters. It has already grossed $559.5 million at the box office, making it the best opening ever for an animated film. And it turns out that an iconic figure from the world of video games will be joining in on the success.

In the Japanese version of the feature film, which will be released on December 5, Hideo Kojima will voice Paul Moledebrandt, a male mole who works for the Zootopia Police Department.

Famitsu magazine reported that the film’s director, Jared Bush, requested Kojima’s participation. Kojima opened up about his voice acting experience.

“I have a lot of experience appearing in movies and video games, but this was my first time voicing a feature-length animated film.”

And it’s a Disney movie! And for the sequel to Zootopia, my favorite Disney movie! Plus, since the offer came directly from director Jared Bush, I was incredibly honored and accepted without hesitation.

I only participated in a few scenes, but even during recording, the production was really impressive. Having the animation already done made the recording much easier. Since I’m usually on the directing side, acting myself was a very rewarding experience. It reminded me how attentive voice actors are to the smallest details, such as turning pages and minimizing background noise.”
