After years of rumors, Master Chief is officially making his way to the PlayStation 5.
During the Halo World Championship 2025, Halo Studios officially announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, a faithful and modernized remake to the original Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign that’s been built from the ground up.
When does Halo on the PS5 come out?
According to Halo Studios, Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to release sometime in 2026, and will be available on the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and for the first time ever, PlayStation 5. The move comes after years of rumors of Microsoft considering bringing its flagship franchise to the PlayStation as it continues to broaden its horizon as a gaming platform.
While many thought the day would never come, Halo now joins several other Microsoft first-party titles to be playable on PlayStation, including the likes of Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 5, Gears of War, and more.

Like its name suggests, Halo: Campaign Evolved will remake the original 2001 game’s campaign in Unreal Engine 5. Players will be able to play the story with upgraded visuals, refined controls, two-player split-screen (console only), and with up to four friends online.
Despite being a remake, the new game will feature some modern updates, including the ability to sprint, being able to wield nine additional weapons in the game (including the Energy Sword, Battle Rifle, Needler, and more), and additional “skulls” that will add even more challenges to the game.
Most notable, though, is that Halo: Campaign Evolved will feature three brand-new prequel missions set before the events of the original game. These new missions will include new environments, characters, and new enemies to face off against.
