Halloween 2025 In-Game Events To Check Out For Spooky Season

Scary stuff

Halloween is right around the corner, and, like usual, a number of video games are marking the spooky occasion with in-game events. Some of the games that have already launched Halloween events or are planning to this month include Call of Duty, Fortnite, GTA Online, Marvel Snap, Destiny, and many more.

Below, we run through some of the biggest, most notable Halloween events in video games, including dates on when these events run and what you can expect from them. We will continue to update this post as more events get announced.

You can also check out GameSpot’s rundown of the best horror games to get in the spooky mood for Halloween 2025.

GTA Online

GTA Online is celebrating Halloween with an event called Halloween Haunts.

The Slasher mode is back with a new twist: Matches play out in the tight confines of the Ramius submarine. One person plays as the Slasher, armed with a shotgun and able to use a flashlight to get around. After a period of three minutes, the players being hunted are granted shotguns of their own to go after the Slasher. This mode will pay out double GTA$ and RP October 16-22. The standard versions of Slasher are back in October as well.

Additionally, Rockstar is adding a different Halloween-themed mode each week in October. Here is the schedule:

  • October 2–8: Beast vs. Slasher
  • October 9–15: Judgement Day
  • October 16–22: Slasher (Ramius Submarine)
  • October 23–29: Condemned
  • October 30–November 5: Slasher (includes Ramius Submarine)

What’s more, Rockstar said fans can look forward to “plenty more off-kilter events” in GTA Online throughout October. For example, players may notice UFOs in the sky and might even see people get abducted. Players can also take on missions where they help investigators find evidence of supernatural beings. There are also jack o’ lanterns scattered throughout the world that players can collect for extra GTA$.

Call Of Duty

Call of Duty’s annual Halloween event, The Haunting, returns on October 9. It brings with new characters, including The Predator, Jason Voorhees, and Chucky. The full details of this year’s Haunting event haven’t been disclosed yet, but it’s expected to include new, spooky-themed maps and modes like usual.

Fortnite

Of course, the battle royale game Fortnite is getting in on the Halloween action, too. Its annual Fortnitemares event hasn’t been announced yet, but leaks have suggested it will start soon.

It is expected to add horror icons both old and new to the Fortnite skin lineup. Plus, we’re expecting a certain trio of fictional KPop stars from Netflix to make a big splash.

Fallout 76

Fallout 76, Bethesda’s online RPG, is celebrating Halloween with an event called “Mischief Night.” It runs October 29 through November 5 and has players taking on quests from JES-2R that are all about causing mischief.

“Give the guards a fright along the way by blowing up cars, expressing your artistic side on walls, and forking the lawns, among other activities. You can even stop by candy bowls at the cottages to try your luck for a delightful treat, or a nasty trick,” reads a line from the description.

Players can earn things like XP, loot, costumes, and jack-o-lanterns for meeting JES-2R’s mischief quotas.

The Mischief Night event occurs every hour, on the hour. Full instructions on how to launch the event can be found on Bethesda’s website.

Phasmophobia

Naturally, the scary game Phasmophobia is getting in on the Halloween action with its own dedicated event.

Phasmophobia’s 2025 event begins on October 9 and runs through Halloween (October 31). Players can complete challenges to earn rewards, themed around Halloween and spooky stuff in general.

Seven maps in Phasmophobia will get Blood Moon weather, which means the speed of ghosts is increased and your sanity meter falls faster. In short, this should make the experience more tense.

Warframe

The popular free-to-play game Warframe launched a Halloween event called Nights of Naberus on October 1, and it runs through November 3. Players can earn items like the Saturn Six Day of the Dead armor set, the Eukar Claw skin, and other scary items. Players can also visit Daughter in the Necralisk to get Mother Tokens that can be exchanged for seasonal rewards as part of the Halloween event.

Red Dead Online

Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, is offering players a number of bonuses for Halloween.

To begin with, players can take part in the All Hallows’ Call to Arms event to earn triple RDO$, Gold, and XP. Players can also earn double RDO$, Gold, and XP on Telegram missions for Halloween, while the previously released Halloween Pass 2 comes back this year, offering more Halloween content for people who want to buy it.

Hearthstone

Marvel Snap

New “zombified” versions of Marvel Snap cards are coming to the game to celebrate Halloween. These include Colonel America (October 7), Zombie Mister Fantastic (October 14), Zombie Captain Marvel (October 21), and Zombies Galacti (October 28).

Marvel Snap is also offering new bonuses when players buy the Premium or Super Premium Season Pass, including a Series 5 Snap Pack and the Arnim Zola- Nightforged Variant.
