Today marks the 27th anniversary of Valve’s Half-Life, and suffice it to say that something is going on. A project codenamed HLX, believed to be Half-Life 3, has seen extensive speculation and various insiders expect an announcement soon. However, the timing is seemingly up in the air.
NateTheHate, perhaps the most reliable insider this year, recently confirmed hearing about HLX and Half-Life 3. However, he clarified that he’s “Working to get consensus on info and extract the truth from it all.”
That includes potential announcement timing, which has delivered mixed results. “One bit of info I was given suggested it would happen at noon today – which has come and gone. I’m not going to share anything until I have a consensus on specifics.” For now, until there’s some kind of consensus on an alleged reveal or release window, the insider won’t be sharing anything more.
That means it’s up to Valve to step up and reveal something. Granted, even the Steam Frame, Steam Machine and new Steam Controller were leaked before their official announcement on the same day, so it’s not impossible. But given that Half-Life 3 is one of the most anticipated games of all time, it may be a much tighter-wrapped secret.
