Ananta is an upcoming title that is perhaps what you might end up with if you mixed together the formulas of Grand Theft Auto VI and Marvel’s Spider-Man.
That may sound like an unlikely combination, but you’ll soon see what I mean.
Developed by Naked Rain and set to be published by NetEase, Ananta is an upcoming open-world RPG.
Aesthetically, it’s akin to, say, Genshin Impact or Zenless Zone Zero, but this title reportedly features no gacha mechanics.
The game is set within a sprawling city which you can cruise around in style, partaking in minigames as you go about fending off foes; this is where those GTA VI comparisons come in.
As for the Marvel’s Spider-Man comparison, well, you can also swing just like Miles Morales and Peter Parker can.
In fact, the animations look shockingly similar. I’m yet to figure out why these seemingly human characters have this ability.
Here, rope is used instead of webbing.
Ananta lets players swim, parkour, climb, and more – and there’s no stamina gauge to limit the fast-paced traversal.
Each of the playable characters also has a unique quirk when it comes to traversal.
Taffy, for example, owns a mallet which can turn into a bike. Very handy.
The goal of the game is seemingly to recover lost memories in a bid to progress each of the characters’ stories.
Those characters are Taffy, Bansy, Alan, Mechanika, Dila, Ringo, Aileen, and Lykaia.
Once you’ve done so, you’ll unlock a final face off against a villain.
It seems you’re a top supernatural investigator known as an Infinite Trigger, looking into paranormal events.
It’s all a bit vague, but I suppose it sounds intriguing enough.
You’ll play as one character during open-world segments but will gain control of a team of four during combat.
The title is due to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and mobile, although it remains without a release date for now.
It has just dropped a new gameplay trailer though which has definitely set social media alight.
“‘We have GTA VI at home’, but this ‘GTA VI at home’ looks stunning. The new Ananta gameplay trailer has me more excited than ever for this upcoming title,” wrote Twitter/X user NikTekOfficial.
“Man I may actually play this. Looks gud,” said StarChief94 in reply.
“I’m looking forward to this one quite a lot. Looks fun. And I won’t be getting GTA VI until its eventual PC port anyway,” remarked RoyalRooterSox.
Keep an eye out for that release date.
