GTA 6 has at least three cities claims new fan theory – and it could be more

As the drought of official GTA 6 news continues, fans hold onto the belief that the map will be large enough to house multiple cities.

It’s been nearly nine months since the last GTA 6 trailer and with the game (hopefully) launching this November, Rockstar Games should have some meatier info to share in the coming months.

Despite being the most anticipated video game ever, there’s very little official information about GTA 6, although fans have been piecing together unofficial details based on previous leaks and forensic studies of the trailers.

This includes an entire fan project to figure out what GTA 6’s final, and no doubt humongous, map will look like, with a common fan theory asserting that there will be multiple cities to visit.

GTA 5, for as big as it was, contained only one city – Liberty City – plus the rural areas of Blaine County. So, any sequel is bound to aim even bigger.

In fact, Rockstar has already said GTA 6 will be the ‘biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet,’ with fan estimates suggesting it’s almost double the size of GTA 5’s map.

How many cities will there be in GTA 6?

The running theory amongst fans is that GTA 6 will have at least three cities to explore across the fictional state of Leonida, which is inspired by the actual US state of Florida.

Vice City, which has featured in previous GTA games, is already confirmed, but while it’s the only location Rockstar has explicitly described as a city, it’s widely believed that Port Gellhorn will serve as a second explorable city.

Not only was the location featured significantly in the September 2022 leaks but it appears to be inspired by Florida’s own Panama City.

As for what the third city could be, Saukko505, a member of the GTA 6 mapping project, suggests in a recent YouTube video that it could be located in the northern part of the map since, based on its current state, it’s otherwise mostly empty.

He adds that it could be a fictional stand-in for a city like Orlando or Tallahassee, but that seems to be their own speculation and not based on any sort of hard evidence.

At the very least, Rockstar certainly can’t have shown everything the map has to offer in just two trailers. The aforementioned leaks also mention a place called Red Hill that’s yet to be featured, but which is very likely derived from the Red Hills region in Flordia.

Curiously, the GTA Wiki lists Ambrosia (another of GTA 6’s confirmed locations) as a city since it’s based on the real city of Clewiston. If fans are accurate in their assertion, then GTA 6 could feature four cities in addition to smaller towns and the countryside.

It’s more than possible that GTA 6 will let you explore the entire state of Leonida, which technically already happened on the PlayStation 2, with San Andreas and its three major cities.

As for when Rockstar could share an update, that’s anyone’s guess. Publisher Take-Two Interactive is sharing its financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year later tonight, but if past instances are anything to go by, you shouldn’t expect any major GTA 6 news to accompany it.
