Rockstar Games recently delivered some difficult news for people eagerly awaiting the release of GTA 6–the game has been pushed back yet again, this time to November 2026. The delay also has implications for a potential PC version that history says will follow… eventually.
After the delay was announced, people flocked to the official GTA 6 website to see if anything was new. Players found that it had been updated to display the new release date, which is about six months later than the previously scheduled May 2026 date. With GTA 6 delayed for its currently announced platforms, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, that means the wait is getting even longer for the expected PC release to come later.
Rockstar’s history of PC releases
GTA 6 is expected to release on PC, in part because of the significant business opportunity, but the PC editions of Rockstar’s releases do not often release day and date with their console counterparts. This is part of how Rockstar operates. Earlier this year, Rockstar owner Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick said, “Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.”
