Despite being released over ten years ago, Grand Theft Auto V is officially eligible to compete for Game of the Year at the 2025 Steam Awards. The reason: the release of its Enhanced Edition on Steam in March 2025, which makes the game eligible like any other title released this year.
The Steam Awards—whose nominations are entirely determined by players—have opened their voting window until December 1, 2025. Among the 11 categories, GTA 5 can be nominated in the most prestigious one, Game of the Year.
As usual with the Steam Awards, everything will depend on the community’s mobilization: if players nominate GTA 5 en masse, then vote for it again in the final selection in December, Rockstar’s title could very well win GOTY in 2025, more than a decade after its original release.
