Grand Theft Auto 6 has once again been delayed. Rockstar has announced that their next title, one of the most highly anticipated games of all time, will be releasing on a new date.
When is the new Grand Theft Auto 6 release date?
Originally set to release on May 26, 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on November 19, 2026, and will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While the new release date is only six months after its old date, this does mark yet another delay in a long line of them for what is likely to be one of the most popular games ever released.
In a statement on the news, Rockstar apologized for the delay, but said that the extra months will allow the team to “finish the game” and deliver it with the “level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”
“We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City,” read Rockstar’s statement.
Grand Theft Auto VI’s development is one that’s been ongoing for over 10 years now. Development on the game began in a preliminary stage in 2014, and has gone through various cycles since then. At one point, the game was set to release sometime in 2025, but would eventually be pushed back several more times.
Since its initial announcement, Grand Theft Auto VI has been the subject of countless excitement and theories from fans. The game will once again take players to Vice City, but this time follow a criminal couple, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, as the pair go on the run following a failed bank robbery.
