Ghost of Yōtei’s Launch Week Sales in US “Basically Flat” to Ghost of Tsushima, Says Circana

Sony has yet to detail sales figures for Ghost of Yōtei, which launched earlier this month to extensive critical praise. While it’s estimated to have sold in over two million copies to retailers in its first week, Circana’s Mat Piscatella reports that its performance in that period in the US was “basically flat to that of Ghost of Tsushima” and that “It did great.”

As he goes on to explain, Tsushima was released in July 2020 when gaming interest was at a high due to the COVID-19 pandemic and mandated lockdowns. The PS4 install base at the time was also “significantly higher” than the PS5’s currently. Ghost of Yōtei achieving this result and keeping pace with its predecessor is thus good news.

Of course, the question is what happens next, since Ghost of Tsushima received a paid expansion, Iki Island, about a year later. Sucker Punch hasn’t confirmed if this will be the case for Yōtei, but it’s keeping options open and listening to what fans want. In the meantime, it has Legends, a free co-op mode coming in 2026, which dives into the more mythical aspects of the franchise.

Again, very few details to grasp, but it features four playable classes, two-player story and four-player survival missions, and “giant versions” of the Yōtei Six as enemies. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

With one week in market, the US sales performance of Ghost of Yotei was basically flat to that of Ghost of Tsushima. It did great.

Ghost of Tsushima launched in July 2020 (if you’ll recall, stuff was happening at the time that significantly boosted gaming), and the PS4 installed base at the time was significantly higher than the PS5 is today.Like, anyone with “concern” about this title should be looked at with a side eye.
