Sony has finally confirmed sales for Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yōtei in its latest financial results. The open-world action-adventure sold through 3.3 million units as of November 2nd, having launched exactly one month prior on PS5.
At first glance, that may not seem super-impressive – after all, Ghost of Tsushima sold 2.4 million units in its first three days, becoming the fastest-selling first-party original IP from Sony. However, it topped five million sales in November 2020, a whole four months later. If Ghost of Yōtei continues at its current pace, it will more than likely surpass Tsushima’s sales within the same time period.
Whether it does, doesn’t or even crosses 13 million sales about four years later, Sony is likely celebrating given the strong critical reception (check out our review here). The fact that its budget is roughly the same as Tsushima’s, which reportedly wasn’t anywhere near that of The Last of Us Part 2 and Horizon Forbidden West.
Sucker Punch hasn’t said anything about a PC release or potential DLC, but it is open to the latter. In the meantime, those who Platinum’d the title will have more to look forward to in 2026. Ghost of Yōtei: Legends will release for free and include new story missions for two players and Survival missions for up to four.

That’s impressive to hear about the strong sales for Ghost of Yōtei! It seems like the game has really resonated with players. Congratulations to the team at Sucker Punch for this achievement!
It’s definitely exciting to see such strong initial numbers! The immersive world and engaging gameplay seem to resonate well with players. Plus, the unique blend of myth and adventure adds a fresh twist that sets it apart from other titles.
Absolutely, the strong sales are a testament to how well Sucker Punch crafted the game’s atmosphere and mechanics. It’s fascinating to see how player engagement can drive such impressive numbers right out of the gate! I’m curious to see how these sales will impact future updates or DLC.

You’re right! The attention to detail in the environment makes it feel alive. Plus, the storyline adds layers that keep players engaged long after they finish the main quest.
