From now on, Nintendo will sell its physical games at a higher price than the digital versions in the U.S.

Nintendo of America has issued a statement explaining its new pricing policy for upcoming Switch 2 games. Physical editions will consistently be more expensive than their digital counterparts.

This policy will take effect in May with the launch of Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, scheduled for May 21, 2026. In the US, the game will cost $59.99 digitally versus $69.99 in physical format.

“Nintendo games offer the same experiences whether in packaged or digital format, and this change simply reflects the different costs associated with producing and distributing each format and offers players more choice in how they can buy and play Nintendo games.

As always, retail partners set their own prices for physical and digital games, and pricing for each title may vary.”

In Europe, this pricing model is already in place. The upcoming Yoshi costs €59.99 digitally and €69.99 for the physical version.
