Free Xbox Games You Can Play Right Now And How To Get Them

Microsoft’s Free Play Days event returns this weekend, allowing Xbox users to play a handful of games for the low, low price of $0.

The games available this weekend are all on Game Pass, but for the Free Play Days event, no Game Pass membership is required.

Those who purchase the games after the free weekend can retain their progress and Gamerscore, which is a nice thing to know for people who want to keep playing.

Read on to see all the games that are free this weekend. Most are free January 29 through February 1, but some of the games are free through February 5.

How to get the free games

The Free Play Days games can be be downloaded on console by navigating to the Subscriptions tab in the Xbox Store and finding the Free Play Days collection. These are available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Alternatively, you can follow the links in this gallery to queue up your download remotely.

Fallout 76

Bethesda’s multiplayer-centric Fallout game that originally launched in 2018 is free right now. The game has been updated over the years with more content and features, including a collaboration with Prime Video’s Fallout TV show.

Speaking of which, the free period for Fallout 76 runs through February 5, so it covers the period when Fallout Season 1 is free on YouTube and Season 2 wraps on February 3.

After the free period, you can buy Fallout 76 for $8 (down from $40).

For Honor

Ubisoft’s swordfighting game For Honor is part of the Free Play Days promotion as well. The game originally released in 2017 and still has a dedicated fanbase. The game’s popular mode, Dominion, is getting a beginner-friendly version, Starter Dominion, and it’s running January 29-February 15. This mode allows players to learn the ropes and disables certain traits to help people get started.

After the free period, you can buy For Honor for $3 (down from $30).

Dead by Daylight

Halloween has come and gone, but you can stay in the spooky spirit with Dead by Daylight. The game is free this weekend in the Free Play Days event, and players can try out the newly released Stranger Things update that adds the villain Vecna.

After the free period, you can buy Dead by Daylight for $12 (down from $30).

Dead by Daylight is free until February 1.

Grounded 2

The sequel to Obsidian’s Honey, I Shrunk the Kids-inspired survival game, Grounded 2 is free this weekend. The sequel features a larger world with more bugs and new weapons to fight them.

During the free period, you can try the newly released Community Garden biome in the Toxic Tangle update.

Grounded 2 is not on sale, so when the free period ends, it’ll still be $30.

Grounded 2 is free until February 1.
