An acclaimed 2017 PS4 game, also available on PS Plus, has just received a free PS5 upgrade. Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun‘s native PS5 port is not only free for existing PS4 owners, but it’s also been added to PS Plus Extra, so those who previously claimed the original version can play the PS5 version at no additional cost.

Shadow Tactics offers improved performance and loading times on the PS5 alongside support for 4K and 60 frames per second. Developed by Mimimi Productions, the game proved to be a hit with both fans and critics alike.
Set in Japan around the Edo period, Shadow Tactics is a tactical stealth game in which players control a team of deadly specialists. “Choose your approach when infiltrating mighty castles, snowy mountain monasteries or hidden forest camps,” reads an official overview on PS Store. “Set traps, poison your opponents or completely avoid enemy contact.”
Adding depth to Shadow Tactics is the bond that builds between the characters, each of which comes with a different personality.
The game was added to PS Plus Extra back in January 2024, so we highly recommend playing it now. Come January 2026, it might be removed from the catalog, having completed two years on PS Plus.
