Epic Games has finally confirmed the rumours around Fortnite Save The World going free to play, stating that the PvE mode will be free from April 16th. While Fortnite Battle Royale dominates the market, it was Save The World that came first as a paid experience in which players team up to build forts and fight back against monsters.
Those who paid for Fortnite Save The World will be given the following rewards on April 16th when free to play starts:
- 1x Hero Supercharger – Promote a Hero beyond Level 50.
- 1x Weapon Supercharger – Promote a weapon beyond Level 50.
- 1x Trap Supercharger – Promote a Trap beyond Level 50.
- 5x Survivor Supercharger – Promote Survivors beyond Level 50.
- 1x Hero Recruitment Voucher – Recruit a Hero of your choice.
- 1x Weapon Research Voucher – Unlock a weapon of your choice.
- 10000 Gold – Spend in the Event Store (to be renamed “the Exchange”) for valuable items.
All players, old and new, can sign up for pre-registration now to get rewards as long as milestones are met. The first reward will unlock at 300,000 registrations and that seems to be Kyle’s Construction Spray. The second reward, unlocked at 700,000 registrations, is the Save The World Jess Banner, and the final reward, unlocked at 1,000,000 registrations is the Snowstrike Hero. This character has the following perks:
- Standard Perk:Â North Star
- Throwing Stars will slow enemies for 4 seconds instead of dealing damage. Slowed-down enemies will explode for 167 base water damage if they receive melee damage or damage from another North Star explosion.
- Commander Perk:Â North Star+
- Throwing Stars will freeze enemies for 4 seconds instead of dealing damage. Frozen enemies will explode for 167 base water damage if they receive melee damage or damage from another North Star explosion.
Fortnite Save The World will be playable on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series XS, Xbox One, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Switch 2, PC, GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna. It will not be available on smartphones, tablets, or the original Switch.
