Fortnite might be free-to-play but those skins will cost you an arm and leg, yet Epic keeps releasing ones I need to add to my collection.
I’ve been playing Fortnite for several years now and I’d hate to think about how much I’ve spent on it during that time. It won’t be nearly as much as other players out there as there have been plenty of collaborations that just weren’t my cup of tea, but when you add Chappell Roan as a Fortnite Festival skin you definitely have my attention…
It all adds up though so it’s not wrong to want to save money here and there, here’s how you can do just that.
For those playing on Xbox and PC the secret is Microsoft Rewards, as while it doesn’t look like a lot at first glance it’s actually an excellent source free in-store credit if you’re following the right formula.
Microsoft Reward user vlonecartii broke it all down on Reddit explaining that you need around 5,000 points in total for a $10/£10 Xbox gift card.

To do this you need to engage with the daily activities and thankfully they’re all very straightforward.
Searching with Bing or filling out surveys is a quick-and-easy way to earn those points and then you can earn more through the Xbox Rewards Hub.
Once you’ve amassed enough and have a decent credit balance you can navigate towards the Microsoft Store and purchase V-Bucks gift cards directly.
If you don’t have enough credit to cover the cost outright you’ll need to pay the difference but that’ll likely be pocket change, you’ll be saving plenty in the long run.
All that’s left to do then is load up Fortnite and see what takes your fancy.
Like I said, the Chappell Roan skin is on my wishlist at the moment as it’ll go great with my Sabrina Carpenter one.
But there’s plenty of other bits and bobs in the Item Shop that’s tempting me too.
The only problem with this method is it isn’t going to work overnight, so don’t expect it to set you up for life in terms of your V-Bucks balance.
That said everyone loves saving money here and there so it’s worth keeping an eye on your balance for opportunities to save a few quid.
