Forget GTA 6, Imminent Rockstar Drop Expands GTA 5 Massively

GTA VI may still be just under a year away, but Rockstar’s next release is actually coming much sooner than we thought.

With the news that Rockstar delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto VI by around six months, many fans are filling the time by replaying Rockstar Games’ older titles.

As one of the most successful games of all time, GTA V is obviously at the top of this list, amassing hundreds of thousands of players each day, with most of them playing online.

This online mode is also massively driven by FiveM, a modification framework that allows people to run modded and custom servers in multiplayer.

FiveM is a huge part of what people enjoy about GTA Online, and is particularly good for roleplaying servers where players strictly act out the part of a certain person or character.

Some players will play roles where their character commutes to and from a job, participates in everyday social activities, and runs businesses for other players. Doing anything that is seen as acting out of character is forbidden, and you risk being booted from the server as a result.

FiveM is Coming to Steam

FiveM players are in luck, as it looks like the mod will be launching on Steam quite soon, as spotted by GTA fans on Reddit.

FiveM now has a Steam page, and although it’s currently hidden from the public, it can be found in Steam’s databases which hints at an upcoming release.

Some fans even report being able to install the game with a bit of trickery, but it doesn’t appear to be doing anything at the moment.

One comment claims you can use the command Steam://install/2676230 to install FiveM to Windows, and it appears to be working with their installation of GTA V.

“I just installed it but I can’t start it. It gives “invalid game configuration” error,” reads one comment on the Reddit post, so your mileage may vary.

However, some are also reporting that GTA V is currently getting updates which may activate FiveM support on Steam, so the release could be very imminent.

It’s possible that this could drop at some point this week, and could possibly be teased at The Game Awards.

Rockstar Games doesn’t typically debut trailers or announcements at The Game Awards, but it might make the exception here with GTA VI surely to win the “Most Anticipated Game” award.
