KOEI TECMO and developer Team NINJA announced that a demo for FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE will be released on March 5, and Silent Hill f will be making an appearance.
KOEI TECMO and Team NINJA took to the internet to reveal some new details surrounding the previously announced FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE. Today, they’ve revealed that a new demo for the title will be launched on all release platforms (Xbox Series X, PS5, Switch 2, and PC) on March 5. Alongside that announcement, Team NINJA has released a new overview trailer for fans to watch, which is available below.
The survival horror remake returns to form with the same blood-curdling gameplay that made the original memorable, which was released way back in 2003. After over 20 years, FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly has returned with a new coat of paint, but the same chilling narrative that enthralled fans for years. In FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE, player-controlled twin sisters wander into an abandoned village infested with vengeful spirits. The twins’ only weapon against the spirits is the Camera Obscura, a device that can capture and seal away the supernatural.
FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE is exactly that, a complete remake of the 2003 experience, with added new features. Items like Broken Spirit Stones can be used to delve into the past of various characters and discover new side stories, expanding the lore of Crimson Butterfly and giving longtime fans a reason to revisit.
The REMAKE is also bringing a SILENT HILL f collaboration, tying two horror franchises together. After launch, collaboration costumes will be added as free downloadable content at a later date. More details about this collaboration will be announced in the coming weeks.
While a demo launches for Crimson Butterfly on March 5, the full FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKEÂ is scheduled to release on March 12, 2026, on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC via Steam. More information can be found on the official KOEI TECMO website.
