Fallout 5 is Years Away But This Upcoming Release Might Scratch the Itch

A new trailer just dropped for a rather odd-looking third-person shooter that looks like it may potentially tide us over until the release of Fallout 5… whenever that may be.

Depending on who you ask, Bethesda is supposedly working on up to five new Fallout games at the moment.

The long-rumoured Fallout 3 remaster seems to be the most concrete one, but there’s also word of a Fallout: New Vegas remaster/remake. Plus, they’re almost definitely working on Fallout 5, although I highly doubt it’s progressed past the conceptual stage yet.

However, even if Bethesda is currently hard at work on Fallout 5, there’s a very slim chance it’ll come out in the next five years.

The first (and only) teaser for The Elder Scrolls VI dropped roughly seven years ago at this point, and we’re still none the wiser as to when it’ll actually come out, so I highly doubt a follow-up to Fallout 4 will release before we hit 2030.

If that all sounds like far too long of a wait for you, you could always play Atomfall. Or, you could head on over to Steam and wishlist Canyons, the upcoming procedurally generated co-op third-person shooter from developer RedRuins Softworks and publisher HypeTrain Digital.

I’ll be completely honest with you, I remember watching a trailer for this one a while back and then subsequently forgetting it exists. Thankfully, HypeTrain Digital are back with a new trailer for the game to refresh my memory… but it looks like the game has changed somewhat since the last time I saw it.

Well, that might not be entirely fair, as the first trailer for the game was still pretty goofy. Things just appear to have gotten even wackier since then (which is, for the record, not a complaint).

No exact word on a release date as of yet, but the team do have at least one exciting update for us. According to the latest press release from HypeTrain Digital, a PlayStation 5 port of the game is now also in the works. Either way, I’d wager that it’ll definitely be out before Fallout 5.

Gotta admit, it doesn’t quite look like it’ll fully satisfy my desire for the next Fallout game, but the latest trailer has swayed me somewhat.

Hopefully, the game is as dorky and zany as the new trailer is leading me to believe, because I’m a sucker for some madcap antics. Oh, hey, that reminds me; I still have to play The Outer Worlds 2!
