Elder Scrolls Meets Dark Souls in Impressive 2026 RPG

The Elder Scrolls and Dark Souls are two very different fantasy worlds, with Bethesda’s work being slightly more fantastical or traditional, with dwarves, elves, and other such magical creatures.

Dark Souls is more dark fantasy, which is probably why it’s one of my favourite game series as that’s the only form of fantasy I can really stomach.

That said, I do like the lore of the Elder Scrolls series, and I’m very excited for The Elder Scrolls VI which could be shadowdropped according to Todd Howard.

Isn’t that a terrifying thought?

While pursuing Steam though, I found Gods, Death & Reapers, an upcoming single-player or multiplayer RPG with an aesthetic I can’t help but adore.

Set from a third-person, top-down perspective, it’s described as an “innovative Extraction RPG” according to developer WOLCEN Studio.

Its game description goes on to explain that it’s “set in an afterlife where mythology is real and the gods are dead”.

“Fight through PvPvE, Story Mode, or Co-Op PvE to claim valuable loot and bring balance to the shattered realms.”

Now to be totally honest, the extraction element doesn’t get me very excited, but with new releases like ARC Raiders soaring through the charts, I can definitely see this game taking off in the same way.

Visually, it’s stunning and if you’re a fan of RPGs, this will obviously have appeal to you. While aesthetically it does give off Dark Souls vibes, it’s not a soulslike, so you can expect slightly more forgiving gameplay than one of FromSoftware’s adventures.

If you’re interested in Gods, Death & Reapers, it’s launching sometime next year on PC, so add it to your Steam wishlist to keep track of further developments.

FromSoftware’s Official Extraction Soulslike

While I said before that extraction games aren’t usually my cup of tea, I’m afraid I’m going to have to play one next year.

In case you’d forgotten, FromSoftware announced The Duskbloods as an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch 2. Many fans have been calling it Bloodborne 2.0 but when you look at the core gameplay mechanics, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Duskbloods is said to focus on multiplayer, with PvPvE gameplay similar to Gods, Deaths & Reapers above. It’s likely not a traditional extraction game given FromSoftware’s usual flair is involved, but it sounds like the closest thing.

FromSoftware defined the soulslike genre when it released Demon Souls and Dark Souls and now that it’s leaning towards more multiplayer-focused endeavours like Elden Ring: Nightreign and The Duskbloods, I’d imagine it won’t be long before other fantasy developers follow suit.
