Double Fine’s Keeper gets pretty good marks

It’s the big day for Keeper, the new license from Double Fine Productions. The studio behind Psychonauts and Brutal Legend is releasing its latest game on October 17, 2025 for Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Despite its relative discretion, Keeper has managed to win people over. It has an average Metacritic score of 80% on Xbox Series (30 reviews) and 86% on PC (16 reviews). Its OpenCritic score is currently 84% with 49 reviews.

Keeper shines thanks to its absolutely sumptuous art direction, but also thanks to a great OST, well-crafted environmental storytelling, and endearing main character.

However, it should be noted that the adventure is short (about 4.5 hours) and the game is relatively easy overall. The camera can also be messy, and the progression can sometimes be confusing.
