Death Stranding Animated Film Announced

Kojima Productions has unveiled an animated film set in the Death Stranding universe called Death Stranding: Mosquito (working title). According to a Kojima Productions press release, the upcoming movie “will chart a bold, original story within the surreal and emotionally resonant world Hideo Kojima created.”

A teaser trailer shows two porters embroiled in a fight, one of whom seems to have taken a tar creature as a pet. The film is directed by Hiroshi Miyamoto of ABC Animation and written by Aaron Guzikowski, creator of the HBO series Raised by Wolves. Guzikowski’s other writing credits include the 2013 film Prisoners and the 2014 series The Red Road. Check out the trailer below.

It’s worth noting that Death Stranding: Mosquito is a separate project from the live-action Death Stranding movie currently in production at A24. Death Stranding: Mosquito has no premiere date.

This trailer premiered during Kojima Productions’ 10th anniversary celebration livestream, Beyond the Strand. The presentation also included a new trailer for Kojima’s upcoming horror game OD (which is being made in collaboration with director Jordan Peele), and the reveal of key art for the studio’s new action espionage title Physint.
