Cyberpunk 2077 Meets RoboCop in Wild New 2026 Game Release

If you thought that Cyberpunk 2077 was pretty good, but wished that there was a co-op mode or PvP mode to go alongside its single-player story mode… then oh boy, do I have just the game for you.

I think it’s been long enough now that we can all agree that Cyberpunk 2077 ended up great. It took some time and a couple of years of bad PR decisions, but, eventually, we did get the game we were all looking forward to (after a few updates, of course).

However, there is one thing that the game is still missing, but to be fair to CD Projekt RED, it’s not something they promised us in the first place.

And no, I’m not talking about the third-person mode; I’m talking about co-op.

Something about that big open world is just begging for some kind of online element, but it’s not easy to retroactively add co-op to a game that was never designed to have it in the first place– especially one that’s as much of a performance hog as Cyberpunk 2077. Pretty sure the version of the game on the Nintendo Switch 2 would explode if it tried to render Night City in split-screen.

Luckily for us, someone else is already hard at work on a Cyberpunk-esque co-op shooter, and it looks to be shaping up quite nicely (based on the latest gameplay trailer).

DEFECT is an upcoming first-person shooter from developer and publisher emptyvessel, set to exclusively drop on PC (for the time being, at least).

This one has been quietly hyped for a while now, ever since the first trailer dropped back in August last year, but this is the first time we’ve got a proper glimpse at its gameplay.

The focus of the latest trailer is on both its co-op and its “4v4v4v4 PVP” mode, although folks who want to play the game solely in single player shouldn’t be too worried. The devs have repeatedly stated that the game will have an offline mode, but I can’t quite discern whether or not that’ll be in the form of a fully-fledged single player campaign mode.

Either way, I think this is one to keep an eye on. No release date in sight as of yet, but based on how polished the gameplay in the latest trailer looks… let’s just say I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear something from them very soon.
