Cyberpunk 2077 Gamers Need This Third-Person 2026 RPG

If you’re after something that’ll scratch the same itch as Cyberpunk 2077, then you’re most definitely going to want to keep an eye on the upcoming Neo Berlin 2087.

In development at Elysium Game Studio, Neo Berlin 2087 is an action RPG set within a cyberpunk-esque sci-fi world that makes use of both first and third-person gameplay.

It unsurprisingly takes place in a future version of Berlin where players will assume the role of Nolan, a detective with a troubled past.

“A unique, third- and first-person action role-playing game; a deep, cinematic detective thriller that takes place in a dark future vision of Berlin,” the synopsis teases.

“Solve a far-reaching conspiracy on an emotional cyberpunk journey about justice, friendship, love, guilt, sacrifice and betrayal.”

Nolan is tasked with safeguarding the police chief’s daughter Natalie after he’s murdered, with authorities believing that Natalie could be the key to figuring out why the chief was targeted.

It’s a case that’ll reportedly affect the “entire city” and, of course, our detective isn’t passively dragged into the conspiracy.

Nolan and Natalie will discover that their “fates are intertwined in ways [they] could never have imagined”.

Interesting.

Players will have the opportunity to explore the neon streets of futuristic Berlin as well as the so-called ‘Wasteland’, a run-down location outside of the city that’s home to outcasts and sentient machines.

You can likely see why I’m referring to the game as a third-person Cyberpunk 2077.

One thing that hasn’t yet been confirmed is how Neo Berlin 2087 will make use of both first and third-person perspectives.

Whether they’re tied to certain segments or can be freely switched between remains unknown.

When can we expect to play Neo Berlin 2087?

At the time of writing, developers haven’t yet confirmed a release date; online storefronts vary, with some listing “to be announced” and others writing “2026”.

A new gameplay trailer did drop at this year’s Gamescom, so clearly development is ticking along.

I will say that what we’ve seen so far of the title does look a tad, let’s say, choppy, but you should never judge a book by its cover and devs have plenty of time to iron out Neo Berlin 2087’s creases.

We’ll keep a close eye on the game’s development.

As for when you can play more Cyberpunk 2077, let’s not forget that an official sequel is in the works.

Codenamed Project Orion, the sequel is set to enter full development following The Witcher 4’s release; that title remains without a release window but is expected to land sometime in the next two years.
