In less than a year, Crystal Dynamics has carried out no fewer than four rounds of layoffs among its staff. The latest round comes this week as the studio is currently working on Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst.
On Thursday, March 18, 2026, 20 positions were eliminated at the studio. This affects “a portion of the development staff and certain central operational roles”. The company posted a statement on LinkedIn to explain its decision.
“As our current projects move into new phases of development, we continuously take a hard look at our team structures to ensure they align with our long-term studio goals.
While we always strive to transition our people into new roles whenever possible, we have unfortunately reached a point where these departures are necessary.”
Last November, 30 people had already been laid off. An unspecified number of employees faced the same fate in August 2025, compared to 17 in March 2025.
