As expected, Crimson Desert is off to a strong start. On Steam, the game has attracted over 239,000 concurrent players, placing it sixth among the platform’s most-played titles.
Unfortunately, player feedback has been somewhat mixed. Currently, Steam reviews are “Mixed”, with only 57% positive reviews out of the more than 10,500 posted so far. Among the criticisms voiced by users, one stands out in particular.
Indeed, the “unintuitive” controls of Crimson Desert are clearly frustrating many people. Even mundane actions like looting an item or talking to an NPC prove tedious. For the latter, you have to hold down one button and then press another to trigger the dialogue. The feel of the game with a controller in hand is also highlighted.
A user named Niflheimm shared their thoughts on X.
“Crimson Desert has set a new low for me in terms of game feel. I genuinely thought it would be like Tsushima – mid, but comfy due to the great visuals. Instead, it was so unbearably bad that I decided to quit and get a refund literally within 5 seconds of touching the joystick.”
Finally, PS5 players are advised to disable the 120 Hz feature in their console settings. This will lock the gameโs resolution at 1080p.
