Despite ending how it did (where is Highguard anyway?), The Game Awards had some pretty solid announcements, including Remedy Entertainment’s Control Resonant. The sequel to the 2019 action-adventure hit sees Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother, awakened from his coma and exiting confinement to a city facing an unprecedented crisis.
In a new trailer on Twitter, Remedy outlined everything that new players should know about the first game and how it connects to Resonant. It’s all familiar stuff if you’ve played the original, but it’s interesting to hear that containment effectively collapsed at The Oldest House.
And while Dylan is out looking for Jesse, who’s mysteriously gone missing, he’ll also “Forge new connections, confront the deeds of his past and make impossible choices that will decide the fate of humanity.” Could that last bit hint at multiple endings? Maybe our man forsakes his mission and a chance at redemption to destroy the world instead? He’d certainly have cause, given how long the FBC kept him locked up.
Whatever the case may be, Remedy Entertainment will reveal more about its mission and the “world” of Resonant soon. Thus far, we know that Manhattan offers wide-open, warped spaces for players to explore and fight through. As an “open-ended” action RPG, players will have relative freedom to go where they want, tackling “branching missions, encounters, and events” in just about any order.
Control Resonant launches in 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out our feature for everything you should know about it.
