Activision has revealed the full roadmap and details for Season 2 of Black Ops 7 and Warzone on February 5. The season is packed with content across all modes, and this includes more weapons, seasonal events, new multiplayer maps, Ranked Play, and new Zombies content. Warzone will add the Avalon map and a Blackout-inspired battle royale mode. As to be expected, Season 2 also includes a brand-new battle pass to level up. All the major highlights of the new season can be found below.

Season 2 is packed with seven free DLC weapons. Some weapons will be available in the battle pass and others will arrive later in the season.

The season also features new attachments to unlock, including the Razor 9mm Wildfire Conversion, A.R.C. M1 Assault Frame, and more.

New battle pass and BlackCell

A new season of Call of Duty also means a new battle pass. The Season 2 battle pass features 119 pieces of unlockable content (excluding BlackCell) and includes three base weapons to unlock.

The paid $10 pass is needed in order to unlock all the standard pass rewards, and the $30 BlackCell bundle returns for those wanting even more cosmetics to unlock.

Players who purchase and complete the Season 2 battle pass will earn the following completion rewards:

  • 200 CoD Points
  • The “Axial” Ultra Skin for Victoria Atwood plus a BlackCell variant for those who purchase BlackCell
  • The “Mind Breaker” Finishing Move
  • The “Cornering” Animated Calling Card

For BlackCell, the exclusive Season 2 operator is called Phantom. Players who purchase the BlackCell bundle will instantly receive the following:

  • The “BlackCell” Clan Tag (showcased in Lobbies and Winner’s Circles)
  • 10% XP Loyalty Boost

New seasonal events

Season 2 is packed with new events for Black Ops 7 and Warzone. This includes the Escalation Directive Event, which lets players earn up to eight universal camos by completing weapon challenges across all modes.

The Hunt or Be Hunted leaderboard event offers rewards to players who compete and complete challenges. Their score determines their position on a 30-player leaderboard, and the event offers up to 13 rewards, including two universal camos and a weapon blueprint.

Additional events and challenges will arrive with the midseason update.

Ranked Play arrives

Season 2 adds Call of Duty’s competitive Ranked Play mode, which follows the same ruleset and restrictions as the pros in the Call of Duty League. Players can compete each season to grind the competitive ladders and earn unique rewards. These rewards include exclusive Ranked Play skins, camos, and weapon blueprints.

Ranked Play will be available for both multiplayer and Warzone. For Warzone, Ranked Play will be played in trios on the Haven’s Hollow map.

Black Ops 7 multiplayer maps

The season will introduce several multiplayer maps. Many of these are brand new and others are classics from past Black Ops games. At launch, the update will add new maps called Torment, Sake, Nexus, and the remaster of Slums from Black Ops 2.

The midseason update adds new maps called Torque and Mission: Peak, and Cliff Town is introduced as a reimagined Yemen from Black Ops 2. Firing Range from Black Ops 1 and Grind from Black Ops 2 also return.

More multiplayer modes

Season 2 will feature a variety of game modes and party modes for multiplayer.

Safeguard from Black Ops 3 returns, and it’s an objective-based mode where teams must either escort a robot to a safe location or defend against. Overdrive also returns. This is a twist on Team Deathmatch where every elimination earns stars that unlock powerful abilities such as fast health regeneration or movement speed.

The midseason update will introduce a new mode called Gauntlet. In Gauntlet, two teams of six compete through a series of randomized game modes, and the mode changes every two minutes. The first team to reach the score limit for the Gauntlet wins.

Additional modes include 3v3 Gunfight, Infected, a shamrock-themed variant of Kill Confirmed, and a mode themed around Valentine’s Day.

Zombies gets more Survival content

Season 2 launches with the Mars area of Season 1’s Astra Malorum as a new Survival map experience. Cursed Survival mode will be available across all of Black Ops 7’s Survival maps, and this brings back the classic Zombies experience by offering a starter pistol, limited HUD, and a Black Ops 3-inspired points system.

Zombies gets new round-based map

A new round-based map will arrive with the midseason update. Treyarch has announced the map is called Paradox Junction, but the details will arrive later in the season. The map’s logo is revealed in the image above.

Warzone’s Rebirth Island gets a makeover

At launch, players can expect a slightly new look for Rebirth Island. The makeover includes a winter theme with snow covering parts of the map. Canisters of Nova 7–a toxic gas featured on previous versions of Rebirth Island–have also been added around the island.

Two new points of interest are featured. Turbine is a large-scale turbine added to the north shore of the island, and Outpost is a locked bunker location that players must discover on the map.

Activision reveals that most other POIs remain intact, but there are some minor changes, visual updates, and improved sightlines all across the map. New Easter eggs are also teased for the island.

The map will also feature a winter-themed circle collapse called “Snowstorm Gas.” This winter variant of Rebirth Island Winter has a dangerous snowstorm that gradually swallows the island in poisonous blizzard-like conditions. Activision says these still act like a normal circle collapse, and gas masks and other equipment will still be needed to survive.

New Warzone map and Blackout experience

At launch, Warzone will continue to be available across Verdansk, Haven’s Hollow, and the winter-themed Rebirth Island. Standard and Casual modes will remain. New limited-time modes and events will also be featured.

Later in the season, Warzone will add the campaign’s Avalon map to battle royale. Activision says this map will include a new mode that “draws inspiration from Call of Duty’s original Blackout battle royale mode from Black Ops 4. More details on the mode will arrive with the midseason blog.

Warzone perk changes

Season 2 overhauls the first perk slot for Warzone. This will replace some of the game’s existing perks with three new options, and Activision says the changes are “designed to emphasize survivability, squad movement, combat awareness, and support a distinct playstyle.”

Field Medic

The new Field Medic perk replaces the existing Veteran perk. This perk lets players revive teammates faster. When they revive an ally, they immediately receive an inserted armor plate from their inventory and a brief movement-speed boost to help them reposition.

Field Medic also increases a player’s bleed-out duration and provides resistance to several tactical effects, including flash, concussion, gas, and shock equipment.

Drill Instructor

Drill Instructor replaces the Grenadier perk. After sprinting for a short duration, the player will begin regenerating health. Nearby allies gain movement speed and faster mantling.

These perk bonuses apply to allies within proximity and briefly persist after they move out of range. Drill Instructor effects do not stack, meaning players won’t get additional bonuses if everyone in the squad is running the same perk.

Surveyor

Surveyor replaces the Cold-Blooded perk. Surveyor is designed to “enhance situational awareness.” This perk allows the player to see enemies briefly pinged on the map when they interact with Buy Stations or activate Contracts.

UAVs the player deploys will cover a larger area and the mini-map is zoomed out to give a broader view. Additionally, Surveyor highlights downed enemies through walls within closer range, making it easier to track threats during fights.

Endgame

Black Ops 7’s campaign Endgame continues to get support in Season 2. The season will add new Guild Strikes as random attacks that can occur at any time across the Avalon map. These strikes turn an area of the map into “Nightmare Zone,” offering increased difficulty and ensuring no match is the same. These zones also have a Strike boss that can be defeated for high-tier rewards.

This adds the new Eagle Eye skill track, which is focused on precision, critical damage, and weapon efficiency. At the midseason update, players can unlock two new abilities as well.

Glitches will also be added with the mid-season update. Glitches will appear after defeating a Strike boss, and these are described as being a “mysterious, repeatable, off-map experience,” where a player and up to three teammates must survive six waves and defeat the Glitch boss to acquire new skills.
