Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now won more GOTY awards than Elden Ring

In early January, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took second place in the ranking of games that have received the most GOTY awards in history. Elden Ring was in the lead with an impressive total of 435 awards, compared to 334 for its runner-up.

The podium was recently updated on ResetEra, and it turns out that Sandfall Interactive’s RPG has surpassed FromSoftware’s title. At the time of writing, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has received 436 Game of the Year awards. This is a new all-time record.

In an interview with Edge Magazine, Guillaume Broche, the game’s creative director, once again expressed his surprise at the success of Clair Obscur.

“What really surprised us was how much the narrative, cutscenes, and story resonated with players. That’s the hardest thing to quantify, because it’s always something very personal. The fact that it worked so well, almost instantly, made us say, β€˜This is a hundred times better than we expected.'”
