CEDEN Network Shuts Down, Ends MEGAWEAPON and All Services

In Brief

CEDEN Network has terminated all operations, affecting its web3 game MEGAWEAPON.

Insufficient funding and escalating financial difficulties led to the network’s closure.

No compensatory measures or future strategies have been communicated to the token holders, leaving players in uncertainty.

Sudden End of CEDEN NetworkCEDEN Network, known for its involvement in web3 gaming and decentralized solutions, has abruptly ceased operations. This termination includes their prominent game, MEGAWEAPON, along with all associated services. The company conveyed this decision through a final post on X which is now closed for comments, and simultaneously deactivated their primary channel on Discord, cutting off community interactions.

Financial Challenges Trigger ClosureCEDEN faced multiple challenges in transitioning its Edge Node Network from an alpha phase to full production due largely to insufficient funding. This situation was exacerbated by rising costs of player acquisition and inadequate monetization strategies that did not suffice to sustain their operations. The web3 gaming sector’s characteristics of low player retention further strained their financial viability.

Operational and Revenue Woes in GamingMEGAWEAPON itself mirrored the financial instability of the CEDEN Network. The game struggled to engage players adequately or achieve necessary revenue, despite the team’s efforts to revitalize interest through numerous gameplay enhancements and token prize seasons. Recent updates introduced major changes, like Season 3 that featured a 10 million $WEAPON token prize pool, followed by additional seasons with more updates and prizes in December. Nevertheless, these were unsuccessful in reversing the downward trend in player interest and financial returns.

Neglected Player InterestsPost-shutdown, the network has not provided any information on the redistribution of the remaining game rewards or about the handling of players’ existing assets. Players who have invested in DEGEN credits and tournament passes now find these resources useless, facing significant losses without any prospect of recuperation or official guidance from CEDEN Network.

The sudden closure of CEDEN Network and MEGAWEAPON leaves numerous stakeholders in a precarious position, with noticeable disruption to its user base and unresolved concerns regarding the investments made by its players.
