One of the most anticipated games of the year is set to release in just a few days, and reviews suggests that it will be a stellar title.
What new Capcom action game is getting stellar reviews?
Resident Evil Requiem, the latest entry in the iconic Resident Evil series, releases on February 27, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Reviews have begun pouring in for the game, and it seems like Capcom has another hit entry on their hands. On OpenCritic, the game has debuted to an average score of 88, with 96% of critics recommending the game.
Eurogamer’s Matt Walles, who scored the game a perfect 5/5, praised the game as “both a masterful bit of suffocating horror and a nostalgic, fan-thrilling victory lap for the legendary series.” IGN’s Tristan Ogilvie gave the game a 9/10 and also praised it for mixing “two separate strains of survival horror together into the one highly infectious new mutation.”
On our sister site, ComingSoon’s Tyler Treese also put the game in the pantheon as one of the best game’s in the franchise in his 9.5/10 review: “Leon’s latest adventure features some of the coolest moments in the franchise, some terrific scares with Grace’s sections, and an interesting story that opens up many exciting possibilities for the franchise going forward. Resident Evil has never been so exciting.”
Our own Shaan Joshi gave the game a 9/10 and echoed much of the praise. “It’s an endless buffet of nail-biting, pulse-pounding action, and, I would argue, survival horror at its finest,” Joshi wrote. GiantBomb’s Dan Ryckert also praised the game in his 4.5 out of 5 review, calling the game “an excellent culmination of everything Capcom has learned during 30 years of making this franchise, and it serves as a tantalizing glimpse of what its future may hold.”
Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth mainline Resident Evil game, and the first to feature Leon S. Kennedy since 2012’s Resident Evil 6.
